I am thrilled about phone-banking this evening for the Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon (APANO). Over the last three years, APANO has increased its base and expanded its advocacy reach by organizing a number of civic engagement campaigns around voter participation, health equity, K-12 education, and more.
Upcoming events are planned to help disseminate information toAsian Pacific Islander voters about candidates and ballot measures in the November 2012 elections. Ballot measure forums are planned for Eugene and Portland on Aug. 14 and Aug. 16, respectively. Here's your chance to tell APANO about issues that you care about, and which ballot measures to endorse. Check the flyer for locations, and RSVP for the event.
On Sunday, Sept. 8, APANO will host a day-long Civic Engagement Training at the LeftBank Annex. Participants will hear from organizers about effective ways to engage community members in the voting process, and examine successful campaigns. Hear about best practices in voter registration, messaging for impact, and hosting impactful ballot parties. Watch the APANO website for more info on how to register for the Civic Engagement Training.
